Our History In Boxers

Max

Following a series of whelping problems in previous litters, Sue and Les Drinkwater decided to buy in a well bred bitch from good whelping lines to start their breeding programme afresh. They found her in a daughter of the Top CC winning red male Ch. Rayfos Cockrobin out of a Ch. Faerdorn Pheasant Plucker bitch. Her name was Faerdorn Whatever Next and she was destined to become a star both in the show ring and the whelping box. "Donna" became their first Champion in 1989, and is behind most of their winning dogs today.

"Donna", Ch. Faerdorn Whatever Next at Sulez (5 CC, JW) was mated to Ch. Bitza Shout and Roar three times. From her first litter came "Boss", Ch. Sulez Whatever You Say (4 CC, 2 RCC), and "Charlie", Ch. Sulez Whatever You Want For Manic (4 CC's, 9 RCC's).

Boss won his first CC at ten months of age at Richmond Ch. Show under Peter Baynes and was shortlisted down to the final six in the Working Group. He was also the "Cover Boy" for Joey Royle’s book "Boxers Today". Frozen semen from Boss was sent over to the Boxerhaven kennels owned by Cecile Stromstaad and Henning Lund in Norway. From the resultant litter of eleven puppies, one of them became Nor. Ch. Boxerhavens Guanerius, and there were also three other CC winners. Guarnerius is also the sire of CC winners himself.

Charlie was Top Sire in 1993, and sire of the top winning bitch Ch. Time to Dance at Manic and Irish Ch Benton Rob Roy. Charlie was bought by Julie and Mick Cook of the well known Manic Boxer kennels in the West Midlands.

From Donna’s second litter to Ch. Bitza Shout and Roar came "Sparky", Sulez Whatevers Best (3 Res CC) and "Sally", Sulez Whatever Will Be for Manic. Sally won well and was in the last four for the CC at Crufts on one occasion when handled by the very young Claire Cook. She was a very useful brood bitch and is behind some of this kennel’s top winners.

From Donna’s third litter to Ch. Bitza Shout and Roar came "Kate", Sulez Whatever Goes to Bitza (1 CC) owned by Pat and Andrew Varney.

Donna's fourth and last litter was sired by Ch. Norwatch Sunhawk Wanneroo. From this litter came "Benni", Sulez Wannerbeloved.

"Benni", Sulez Wannerbeloved was only lightly shown as she was rather plain but had excellent conformation, so she was mated to Rujo Road Warrior who was by Ch. Sulez Whatever You Want for Manic, and a full brother to Ch. Time to Dance at Manic. The result of this mating was a beautiful brindle and white bitch named "Libby", Ch. Sulez Labelled With Love (11 CC , 17 RCC’s). Libby was awarded UK Top Boxer 1997.

A repeat mating to Road Warrior produced a dog that was sent to Norway which later became Nor. Ch. Sulez Sugar Daddy.

Sulez Insatiable

For her last litter Benni was mated to Ch. Sulez Whatever You Say, and a bitch called Sulez Insatiable from this litter was sent to Northern Ireland where she won well for the McElveens.

Sulez Whatevers Best, "Sparky" was mated to Ch. Bucksteps Charlie Brown as it was felt that she needed a bit more size and substance. They kept a B/W/B who was later to become Ch. Sulez Shockwave, "Georgie" (5 CC, 4 RCC). Georgie was awarded a Working Group 2 at the Bath Ch. Show.

Ch. Sulez Shockwave in turn was mated to Sulez Bundesign and produced the Group winning dog "Buster", Ch. Sulez Sonicboom (4 CC, 4 RCC), winner of the Working Group East of England Championship Show 2002. Shortly after winning the Group Buster inhaled an ear of corn whilst out exercising (only a Boxer could do that!). It embedded itself at the bottom of his right lung causing him to continually cough up blood and pus for almost two months. During this period of illness, he remained his normal cheerful self apart from his awful hacking cough which seemed to bother his owners more than it did him! All attempts by one of the top soft tissue specialists to remove it failed, so a decision was made to remove a third of his lung. All went well and he never looked back. He had a lengthy period away from the showring but returned to take his title at Paignton Championship show 2005. There was hardly a dry eye at ringside!

From a repeat mating of Ch. Sulez Shockwave to Sulez Bundesign a brindle bitch named"Jemma", Sulez Caprice (3 RCC) was retained to keep the line going. Caprice was awarded BIS at the British Boxer Club Open show in 2005.

Meanwhile, to further strengthen the bitches in their kennel, they bought another brindle and white bitch in from the Faerdorn kennels "Cher", who was to become Ch. Faerdorn So Glad for Sulez (3 CC, 2 RCC).

Cher was by Ch. Glenfall the Gladiator out of a daughter of the Spanish Ch. Janos De Loermo of Lynpine. Even as a young puppy she had the most lovely head which never changed or coarsened with age and had the most amazing temperament with a tail that never stopped wagging!

Cher was bred to Ch. & Ir. Ch. Blueprint Beern Skittles at Walkon and produced "Yumyum", Sulez Bundelicious (3 RCC) and "Desi", Sulez Bundesign. Although Desi won well, he had to make way for his son out of Ch. Sulez Shockwave, who was later to become "Buster", Ch. Sulez Sonicboom. Sulez Bundelerius went to the Sandyne kennel and Sulez Fair Share went to live at Merribox.

Yumyum was mated to Ch. Showbiz for Faerdorn, and she produced the beautiful headed bitch "Fizz", Sulez Limelight. Fizz in turn was mated to Ch. Lanfrese Surething at Manic and from this litter produced a smart B/W/D named "Todd", who was later to become Ch. Sulez Shorenuff.

For her second litter, Fizz was mated to Berwynfa Bootlegger at Headon , and a B/W/B is currently being run on named "Tipsy", Sulez Moonshine.

For her last litter Cher was mated to Ch. Makeneys Magical Moments. Sue and Les fervently hoped for a red bitch as they knew that Cher could produce reds. In fact she did have two plain red bitches, which was rather disappointing, but there was an outstanding dark brindle and white bitch which showed great promise. She did not disappoint! This outstanding bitch became Ch. Sulez Blackmagic (54 CC, 33 BOB, 28 RCC). Please see Magic's page for details of her impressive show career. Magic is a multiple Best In Show winner (All Breeds and Specialty).
